Foraging is so much more than collecting ‘edible weeds’. For me it’s a journey. The journey that takes us into the wild to help us being better version of ourselves. The journey through the woods, meadows or along the sea shore. At the end of each journey there will be a meal that fills your belly, comfort your mind and nourish your soul.
We all need more time outside, away from screens and artificial light. Foraging gives us this lovely opportunity to discover, explore and rummage through nature’s pantry. Deep inside we are hunters - gatherers who should function in harmony with seasons and daylight cycle.
There isn’t a better way to reconnect with nature.
I also see foraging as a mindfulness technique, as it requires our presence. It’s all about ‘here and now’ idea. You have to slow down and learn to observe otherwise you will come back home with an empty basket.
